Best winter perfumes for Norway's cold season

Nov 03, 2026 Dupescents

The best winter perfumes for Norway are warm, rich fragrances built on vanilla, amber, tobacco, oud and spice. Cold air keeps scent closer to the skin, so heavier base notes and higher concentrations such as Extrait de Parfum carry better through a Norwegian winter. Below are our picks from the Dupescents range, all delivered duty-free to Norway.

What makes a perfume good for winter?

Fragrance evaporates from the skin, and warmth speeds that up. In cold weather that process slows down, so a light, fresh scent can feel almost invisible outdoors. Winter perfumes make up for this with dense base notes such as vanilla, amber, tonka bean, tobacco, resins and woods. These molecules are heavier, last longer and still show up when you step inside from the cold.

Concentration matters as well. An Eau de Parfum contains more perfume oil than an Eau de Toilette, and an Extrait de Parfum contains more still. In a Norwegian winter, a higher concentration is a simple way to get more lasting power out of every spray.

Which winter perfumes do we recommend for Norway?

  • Liquid Brun – French Avenue: our biggest seller. Cinnamon, orange blossom, cardamom and bergamot open into bourbon vanilla and elemi, with praline, ambroxan, musk and guaiac wood in the base. Its own description calls it perfect for cooler seasons.
  • Lattafa Khamrah: cinnamon, nutmeg and bergamot, a heart of tonka bean, amber and myrrh, and a sweet, woody base of vanilla, oud and sandalwood. Unisex.
  • Swiss Arabian Tobacco 01: plum, apple, licorice, pink pepper and cumin, then labdanum, amber, patchouli and ylang-ylang, finished with honey, tobacco, vanilla, sandalwood and cashmere wood. Extrait de Parfum.
  • Swiss Arabian Incense 01: incense, rum, juniper and bergamot, a heart of hazelnut, fig and almond, and a base of incense, dark chocolate, vanilla and woods. Extrait de Parfum, made for evenings.
  • Essence Of Casablanca – Swiss Arabian: apple and grapes, patchouli and orris, then amber, balsam, musk and vanilla. A warm but not heavy option for daytime.
  • Shaghaf Oud Ahmar: peach, melon, bergamot, freesia and iris, then apple, amber, rose and tonka bean, with a base of vanilla, musk, sandalwood, cedarwood and oud.
  • Fragrance World Elysia Vanilla: vanilla orchid and jasmine, brown sugar and tonka bean, and a glowing base of amber, amberwood, musk and patchouli.
  • Khadlaj Creme Velvet: a buttery caramel and licorice opening, honey, jasmine and tonka bean in the heart, and amber, musk and vanilla in the base. Extrait de Parfum.

Which scent families suit a Norwegian winter?

Spicy and oriental. Cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg feel warming and pair well with amber. Browse our spicy collection.

Vanilla and gourmand. Caramel, praline and cream feel cosy under a wool scarf. Many of these sit in our women's perfumes, though several are unisex.

Tobacco, incense and oud. Deeper and smokier, ideal for dark evenings and special occasions. Find more in our men's perfumes.

If you prefer something fresh even in winter, choose a citrus scent with a warm base so it does not vanish in the cold.

How do I make my perfume last longer in the cold?

  • Apply to moisturised skin. Dry skin holds fragrance less well, and Norwegian winter air is often dry.
  • Spray on pulse points and on clothing such as a scarf, where scent can last a long time.
  • Choose Eau de Parfum or Extrait de Parfum over lighter concentrations.
  • Do not rub your wrists together; let the fragrance dry on its own.

FAQ

Is Eau de Parfum or Extrait de Parfum better for winter?

Both work well. Extrait de Parfum has the highest concentration of perfume oil, so it usually lasts longest, which helps when cold air reduces how far a scent travels.

Do I pay customs when ordering perfume from Dupescents to Norway?

No. All our deliveries to Norway are duty-free through the VOEC system.

Can I wear a vanilla perfume as a man?

Absolutely. Several of our warmest vanilla scents, including Liquid Brun, Lattafa Khamrah and Maison Asrar Vanilla Voyage, are listed as unisex. Need help choosing? Contact us.
